Lorenzo disappointed with race pace

Jorge Lorenzo was disappointed not to turn pole position into a maiden MotoGP victory at Jerez today when he couldn't transform his dominance in practice and qualifying into race pace.

The Spaniard qualified on pole position by 0.6 seconds yesterday but struggled for grip in the race and finished third behind winner Dani Pedrosa and his FIAT Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi.

"For sure we expected to win today, but Dani and Valentino were stronger than us and have beaten us," he told Italia1 television.

"Third is less than we expected but at least we got to the end of the race and didn't crash out. We had a big problem with the tyres sliding a lot and our pace dropped.

"My team and all the people who support me wanted me to win, but again we had problems in the race and didn't get the same pace as in practice.

"But for the championship this is a good result and maybe some day we will get a good pace in the race as well."
