Renault have undertaken a minor restructuring of their technical department, with head of aerodynamics Dirk de Beer taking over from Dino Toso as director of aerodynamic technology.
Toso remains an employee of the Renault team and no reason for the change of responsibilities has been specified by the team.
A statement from the Renault team said: "We can confirm that Dino Toso's responsibilities have been taken over by current head of aerodynamics, Dirk De Beer.
"However, Dino Toso remains an employee of the company and we can not make any further comments on his position at the moment."
Toso had a spell at Jordan before joining Renault at the end of 2000. He was promoted to the role of chief aerodynamicist in 2003, although shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with cancer.
He stayed on while battling the disease and helped play a role in Renault's title success in 2005 and 2006. In the middle of last year he was given the role of director of aerodynamic technology.
